All tubers are grown by Lex and Meghan using regenerative practices. Tubers are stored inside over the winter and divided in the spring. Any tubers showing signs of disease are immediately removed and we use rigorous sanitation practices during tuber division and packaging.
All tubers are double-checked for eyes (active growth points) before packing, and tubers are guaranteed to have at least one eye. Tubers may be small or wrinkled, but this should not affect the vitality of the plant. While we do our best to keep tubers in top shape during storage, once they reach you, we are no longer responsible for their success. Please contact us if you believe you have received a non-viable tuber.

Dahlias are our favorite cut flowers - they bloom from late summer to first frost, and we only grow the most prolific and beautiful varieties. Dahlias can be planted once the soil is warm, usually late May to early June in our area. Tubers can also be started early indoors in containers for earlier blooms.
Tubers should be planted about 3” deep with the eyes/sprouts facing up. Space plants about 2-3’ apart - they get big! Do not water until plants are established, as tubers can easily rot in the ground if the soil is too damp.
Plants can be hilled with soil early on in the season to strengthen the root system. Dahlias benefit from support by trellising or staking, and it is recommended to pinch the plants once they are about a foot tall to increase side branching and bloom production. Fertilizing with a low-nitrogen fertilizer blend several times during the growing season will help your plants stay healthy.
The more you pick, the more flowers will bloom - stay on top of harvesting and deadheading for maximum dahlia goodness!
All dahlia plants are cold-sensitive (hardy to Zone 8) and should be dug up and stored inside during the winter at 40-50F and 70-90% humidity.
