Heart-leaved aster (Symphyotrichum cordifolium, AKA blue wood-aster) is a native perennial shrub with light-blue flowers that can grow to 3’ tall. It blooms all fall and its flowers are an important source of late-season food for pollinators. It prefers partial shade and medium-dry soil, but is adaptable to full shade and full sun. Thrives with neglect - our seed source plants volunteered in our yard and grew with no effort. Grown from locally-collected seed.
